Nancy Todd Roberts has studied and painted for nearly forty years, experimenting with oil and acrylic paints, finally deciding that oil lent itself more to her style
and technique. She paints in the style of the Old Masters applying chiaroscuro andrealism to her work.
Chiaroscuro adds drama using light and shadows to enhance the picture. Realism is done withpreciseness in drawingand perspective. Each painting requires more than one layer of paint allowing color from each layer to show through thenext layer which adds depth and realism to achieve the
desired outcome. Because of the care taken in proper oil painting techniques, each painting has the potential to last hundreds of years.
The work of Nancy Todd Roberts has been exhibited in art shows in the Greater Kansas City area and other cities around the United States. She is represented in a gallery in the Greater Kansas City area, Images Art Gallery (www.imagesartgallery.org), 1520 Walnut,
Kansas City, MO. Her work hangs in 78 private collections throughout the United States and Canada.
Nancy Todd Roberts accepts commissions for portraits, still lifes, and landscapes as well as planning her own set-ups. Lately, she has added some different subjects to her list of offering. She is working on a collection of hot air balloon pictures which she calls Balloon Patterns Series. She has also tried some enlarged flower and fruit and vegetable paintings.
Nancy Todd Roberts also teaches oil painting classes in Johnson County, KS. Contact Nancy for more information.
